A jaw-dropping car comes with a jaw dropping price! So, it was obvious that a luxuries car coming from a luxurious brand will be quite expensive. We are talking about the BMW i8, which has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs 2.29 crore ex-showroom Mumbai.
The BMW i8 is the brand’s first hybrid and costliest car. ‘i’ is the sub-brand of the German car major and it focuses on sustainable mobility and hi-tech car development.
The BMW i8 comes equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 131-hp electric engine, which churns out a combine power of 266 hp and a combo mileage of 47 kmpl. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 230 km.
The vehicle also comes with a regenerative breaking system, first for the company, providing maximum power saving. How? Well, each time when you apply the break, the battery as well as other electrical gadget in the car gets recharged.
“The global automotive industry is witnessing a paradigm shift from the conventional combustion engine to sustainable mobility solutions. And BMW i is a ground-breaking concept for sustainable mobility and a new understanding of premium- strongly defined by sustainability,” BMW Group India president Philipp von Sahr said.
The BMW i8 was launched by Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, the brand face of the group in India.
