But it is still alive as BMW Classic reconstructed this piece of history in 2010, providing it original specs. Actually what happened was During the war, BMW hid five of its car at some rural place to save them from getting destroyed.
Soon after the war, some allies found them and send them across the world. BMW Director of Racing Ernst Loof took custody of the 328 Kamm Coupe in Germany, but he then sold it.
However, the new owner crashed it and it was scrapped in the 50s. After this miserable journey, BMW Classic provided it a new lease of life for the 70th anniversary of its Mille Miglia victory.
