India: Suzuki reopens Maruti Plant amid police protectionAugust 27, 2012 by: Mita Mukherjee
Suzuki has reportedly reopened the Manesar Maruti – Suzuki factory in India. The Manesar plant manufactures Suzuki Alto for the Australian market. The factory recently survived a storm in its recent past and to maintain peace and tranquility in its premise the company has planned to seek help from 1200 police officers. The officers will not only maintain order within the plant but also ensure safety of the employees.
There are reports that only 75 employees are their currently in the factory thus the ratio and the numbers clearly dictates the dominance of the police officers. But the number of the employees is likely to grow till 300 and then the strength of the security deployed will decrease, even more; the police officers will be serving in shifts of one hundred.
Along with a smooth reopening, another good news is that the factory aims to grow from 150 cars per day to a 1500 to 1800 units.
