Mahindra Reva opens EV Manufacturing Plant in IndiaAugust 25, 2012 by: Mita Mukherjee
Mahindra Reva has opened its new manufacturing unit in India aiming to produce approximately 30,000 (all electric) vehicles per year. The unit is situated in Bangalore and it hopes to start producing its batches by September.
It may not be possible for the manufacturing unit to reach its full potential as of now in its initial stage but it is determined to reach it in next three years. The production unit will be focusing to produce its full capacity till it reaches its target number.
Currently it has a plan of producing 6000 Reva NXR in its first batch. Reva can accommodate four passengers; it has a four seater hatchback and can reach a speed of 64 mph (105 km/h). The two door car has been quoted to reach a 100 miles or a 160 km range.
What is yet to be decided is its price tag. If priced sensibly within the reach of the regular population then it definitely has the potential to become a hit in the country itself along with the overseas lands, as well.
