Rare Porsche 911 GT1 to go under the hammer in Monterey [Video/ Photo Gallery]August 7, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
Do you have a million dollars, and I am not saying your total assets. You should be rich with a million dollars in spare plus a spoilt attitude. If you fit in these two conditions, then probably a drive to Monterey would be useful as RM Auctions is putting a Porsche 911 GT1 “Strassenversion” on sale, which is as rare as it gets. Also Strassenversion means Street version in German.
The car that is up for auction is actually based on a revised version of the First Strassenversion known as the GT1 Evo. The car was built in 1998 and if the odometer is anything to go by it has hardly had any road fun with just 7,180 km on it.
It is understood that for a million dollars one can get the best now days, but here a few things that we need to consider before saying no the exclusive car. Most of the modern cars, though comparatively better in performance are better road cars, our 911 GT1 is a road car plus due to the regulation it can also grace the streets. Also, this is for someone who has a garage of great cars and another new age Ferrari won’t do for him. This will guarantee some exclusivity.
The car in question here with a chassis number WP0ZZZ99ZWS396005 is the only one that was imported to the USA, so how’s that for rarity. Anyways if you got the money better go for the spoils rather than some meager interest on FD and RD.
