Olympic Skater takes a ride on BMW Electric ScooterAugust 4, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
London Olympics are in full swing and the world is having a good time. BMW took this opportunity to show the world their efforts towards a greener planet with a range of electric scooters on display, which included the impressive C Evolution scooter. While BMW is doing its business here, we come to know those 40 years ago, Munich Olympics were held.
So, somehow this becomes the 40th anniversary of the Munich Olympics. As a celebratory event BMW Group Olympic Ambassador Katarina Witt was allowed to lay hands on the C evolution scooter. Her experience of the scooter was quite interesting as we head her saying some good words about the production –based prototype scooter.
She said “The BMW C evolution not only looks cool, but also features cutting-edge technology,” said Witt. “With this electric scooter, BMW is once again demonstrating its high levels of innovation. The BMW Group was involved in the marathon and walking races at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich with the BMW 1602 electric car. As such, today’s anniversary event sees the issue of environmentalism come full circle.”
Few quick facts about the scooter, though we already had a detailed story earlier. The scooters are all electric capable of producing 11kW of power continuously with an option of increasing that to 35kW for a short burst of time. Range of 100 kilometers sounds good enough and even if it gets discharged, it can be recharged in less than 3 hours.
So here you go, cool looks, green future and decent performance. Still the Olympics can better.
