Build Your Car Yourself: Japanese unveil DIY Pius EVJuly 13, 2012 by: Nishant Panwar
What if you were told to build your car yourself? Would it be fun or difficult? Well, the Japanese thought that it would be fun and also educational too. The Japanese, as everyone knows, are the ones with the strangest projects of all time which they refer to as innovation. The minds behind these ideas would surely be sparkling minds of the country.
But these minds are always concerned more about environment as a result the new project is an EV. A company called Modi-Corp has twisted the entire EV market with the build-it-yourself micro electric car.
This car has tiny wheels and one single seat. It has named as the Pius which makes everyone wonder where do they get these kind of names from. Anyways the Pius is safe enough to qualify for the Class-1 motorized bicycle class in Japan.
You can’t take the Pius seriously, right? Well that’s no co-incidence because not only you and me won’t take the Pius seriously but also Modi-Corp itself isn’t taking it seriously too.
I think that is why Modi-Corp wants to sell it as a demo vehicle for universities, mechanical schools and technology colleges. So the car will actually be n educational tool.
The price of the EV kit has yet to be released but will soon be released before the launch of the self-built Pius i.e. during spring, 2013.
All we can do now is just wait and watch till the spring of 2013 to see as to where this innovative idea can take the company and market of EV to.
