Who doesn’t know Steve McQueen. He made cars looks so easy in a movie. A genuine car lover who was passionate about cars in every way and you would be surprised the way in which he rocketed them past others. If you remember the chase scene with the Mustang in Bullitt, you would know why he is sometimes called the last ‘real man’ to drive a car in a movie. That chase scene is still considered one of the best chase sequences in a movie.
Although his favorite wasn’t a Mustang, he used to own a Ferrari 275 GTB4. Ferrari Classiche, the Italian manufacturer’s official department which restores and maintains their old cars has restored the old classic. Now a little bit of history about the car and the journey to its restoration. It was originally a coupe, but then the previous owner had some ideas and he went about chopping off the top and finally converting it into a roadster.
Now Ferrari experts are working to give it the original body by refabricating the roof with hand out of metal sheet, like the way it used to be done in the 60’s. After such a long run in history it is finally soothing to see the car of such an iconic racer being restored to its former glory, which it deserves to.
