Touching Story: Son needs 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad’s last Father’s Day specialJune 8, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
Well now we have a romantic love story here. It’s the story of a cherry red 1967 GTO and a guy named Ken. Ken went to California and like always fell in love, got married. GTO was sold and then they lived like a normal family does, except the fact that Ken regretted selling his GTO every day.
Ken has now been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer and has at max 3 months to live. Here comes Ken’s son Jim into the picture. Jim has always wanted to get his dad a 1967 GTO and wanted to rebuild it with him. But, could not do so and now time is the luxury he doesn’t have.
The coming Father’s day is the last Ken will have and Jim wants it to be special. Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontia GTO to makes his dad’s last Father’s day amazing and special. Here is what he had to say on Hemmings Forum:
“My dad would love to own a GTO, but finances aren’t there to do so, and I am really hoping to get one for him to drive around for a while. He now spends his days going fishing sunup to sundown as that is what he wants to do. I can think of no better way to get him from home to his fishing spot and back again than in a GTO!”
This is a story that reflects how attached one is to the thing he drives and since it is real, you could see the pain in it. If anyone has the car and is close by, please contact Jim and let the long lost lovers be brought together even if it is for a day.
