Emilia Romagna region of Italy was hit by an Earthquake in the month of May, leaving many families without food and shelter. Help poured in from everywhere. Ferrari, the Italian premium carmaker is playing its part too in trying to provide relief to the families that had to bear the tragedy.
Ferrari has organized an online auction of some of the companies most unique and rare items. All the proceedings from the auction will be sent to the victims of the earthquake. The items that will be up for auction can now be seen on the company’s website. A visitor is welcomed by a message from the Chairman of the company Luca di Montezemolo.
“I am sure we can count on the generosity of those close to Ferrari around the world who have always kindly supported this kind of initiative in the past.” The message continues as “A terrible earthquake struck our region and the people we know, and together we want to help the families of the victims in this time of need. We are holding an auction of some truly unique and exclusive items for all Ferrari’s friends and enthusiasts to whom I would already like to express my heart-felt thanks.”
The biggest item that will be up for auction and will have a lot of buyers will be a non-homologated 599XX Evo with a price of €1.35 million. This has been built specially for this auction and has many special and unique features like the special plaque dedicated by Ferrari’s Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, and the Scuderia F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.
The drivers will be handing over the car to the man who bids the highest at the Monza Grand Prix in September.
A 2008 V8 engine. F1 racing suits, gloves and helmets autographed by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the nose cone from the F60 that Ferrari rejoiced its 60th consecutive year in the World Championship, and an F1 racing suit from Giancarlo Fisichelle are some other automobile artifacts that would be available for the fans around the world to bid on.
While I am not very big on auctions and stuff, I would like every rich guy to buy everything. This is for a better cause.
