1962 Ferrari GTO becomes world’s most expensive carJune 4, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
The Most expensive car in the world is not a Buggati or a Lamborghini, it never was. At $32 million a Ferrari was the most expensive until now when it was beaten by another Ferrari a 1962 GTO made for none other than the great Sterling Moss. $35 million, this is what has been paid for the car that was rather never driven by Sterling Moss, Courtesy a career ending crash at the tracks in April 1962.
The most expensive car, a chassis number 350GT though never had Moss behind its wheels; it still won quite a few competitions. Among the other 250 GTO’s it stands out with its unique lime green theme.
For the records you would be amazes to know that the price of this car has increased ten times in the last 10 years. The current owner, a Dutch businessman bough the car for $8.5 million about a decade ago. Recently the car was seen at Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance last year.
It was displayed as part of GTO’s 50th anniversary celebration. Check out the pics of the most expensive car in the world.
