Boat or Car? World’s fastest amphibious vehicle ‘Sea Lion’ up for sale [Video/Photo Gallery]May 12, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
We have come across something truly amazing and it we have this obligation of getting this news to you. So, here it goes, it’s called the Sea Lion and it was built by Marc Witt and Applied Design and the design will seem uncharacteristic at first, but it is really clever of the designers to design it. The guys who built it say it is the fastest amphibious vehicle on land and while we haven’t tested it all we can say it is a very rare and intricate design.
According to the claims it can go for 120mph on roads and 60mph in water with its Mazda 13B rotary engine. But apart from this, the eye-catching thing is that it has got this amazing design and that is what matters right now.
When it transforms from car to boat, front wheels are raised up together with the bonnet and then there is this car like splitter at the front which then bends to create a nose for the hull. An amazing feature is that a flap covers the underside of the body and it also has a hatch that gets raised automatically along with two storage bins on either side. The engine cover and radiator rise so that engine remains cool.
A scoop under the car sucks out water and then pushes it back and power is derived from a water jet nozzle at the back. For $259,500 you can own something unique and extremely rare.
