Mercedes Benz AMG ends ties with DucatiApril 21, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
Well Ducati is Audi’ snow and hence it was expected that Mercedes-Benz performance Divison AMG would cut its ties and so they did.
AMG has released a statement, which tells why they cut off the ties and they also tried to explain that they weren’t running after Ducati’s acquisition. DO I hear grapes are sour, who knows? Anyways this is what came from the AMG guys:
“Since the end of 2010 a successful marketing cooperation has existed between AMG and Ducati. The company takeover by a rival car manufacturer has understandably resulted in the end of any further collaboration. The takeover of Ducati was never our aim – our focus lies clearly in developing and producing premium performance cars and we will be concentrating all our energy on this.”
AMG and Ducati have shared a marketing partnership since 2010 and AMG even sponsored Ducati’s core Moto GP team. They worked on special-edition version of the Diavel, which officially became a collector’s item as the first AMG-branded Audi. Its kind of messed up isn’t it.
I mean of course it is not an actual AMG, but it bears the AMG badging and after Audi took over this will not happen ever again. So you see the rarity and exclusivity now.
