Revealed: Ducati 1199 Panigale Superbike is impressive and weighs lessMarch 23, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
Ducati’s evolved 1199 Panigale was revealed today and after the bike caught eyes, there was just one thing to be said. What an amazing bike for this year!
Especially the design, the way most of the parts have been combined to reduce the weight. It is such a great advantage to have an upgraded performance and a degraded weight. The new bike is at 164kg, which is about 10kgs les than the previous one.
The Superquandro engine is used as the backbone of the bike. Light and short monocoque made of die-cast aluminum, gets about 5 kgs off the bike. The monocoque is attached to the cylinder heads, leaning forward to house the steering head bearings and eventually forming the airbox along the way. This setting is topped-off and sealed by the lightweight aluminum fuel tank.
The engine still remains with L-Twin and the top has been rotated by an angle of 6% to get more clearance on the front wheel.
You don’t really need to understand the details, just a look at the pic above and you will know, you want one of those.
