Ruf starts to rough up 991 Porsche 911, reveals CTR3 at Geneva Motor ShowMarch 7, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
Ruf is well known for getting the best out of Porsche. The tuner lends his immaculate sense of power, handling and braking and this time around he is working up the 991 variant of Porsche 911.
At the Geneva Show, two 991 base Rufs were shown. Rt 35(green) celebrates 35 years of Ruf in the business while the other one is RGT8.
Rt35 gets the better of Porsche by providing a twin turbo kit for the Carrera S resulting in 621 hp and 608 pound feet of torque transmitted through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. 0-60 timing wasn’t revealed but Ruf says Rt 35 goes over 205 mph.
As for RGT8, it debuted at Geneva two years ago and a race derived V8 inside it had everybody in shock. This year the updated version based on 991 uses a 4.5 liter V8 giving out 543 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque through a proper six-speed manual gearbox.
As a final offering, Ruf updated the CTR 3 in a new Clubsport variant, with a lot of carbon fiber both inside and outside of it. A twin turbo flat six takes the responsibility of getting 740 hp and 708 lb-ft of torque. Six speed sequential gearbox tunnels the power.
Ruf has had some presentation to make and with the Anniversary celebration we can expect better things in the near future. Well, nobody understands a Porsche better than Ruf and he has the license to rough it up.
