Ducati Monster 795 unveiled at 2012 Delhi Auto ExpoJanuary 8, 2012 by: Rituraj Mishra
I did not believe it the first time, but it’s true. Ducati has something cheap to offer and it’s been launched. The new Ducati Monster 795, the cheapest Ducati on offer is available at an ex-showroom at a price of 6.99 lakh. Gracing the launch were MirkoBordiga Ducati Asia Pacific CEO and AshishChordia Ducati India CEO.
803cc L-twin engines honour the monster with 87PS of power and 78 Nm of torque at 6250rpm. Six speed gearbox is another high point, while replacing single side swing arm with a double sided one has helped in keeping the price down. Also, 795 will wear a 3-spoke alloy wheel.
From what we hear, 6.99 lakh is still a bit high, considering that Ducati will be assembled in Thailand facility. But for all we know, it is still Ducati and will always be worth buying. Monster 795 will have a hard time making a way, in front of its close competitors Triumph Street triple, Kawasaki Ninja, Hyosung GT650N all ranged within 6 lakhs.
Even then Ducati has that factor of Exclusive and premium and people who would shell out 5 lakhs won’t mind another 2 for this monster. My opinion, let’s wait and count how many are seen on-roads, a practical way to measure success of the bikes.
