2012 Delhi Auto Expo is in for some quality show off, as Mercedes will be showing their A class concept and fuel cell technology. Garnishing the A class will be the launch of SLS AMG Roadster. Motorsports junkies would also be interested in enrolling for the Mercedes-Benz JPSI Performance Driving Academy, which will be soon a reality.
First revealed at 2010 Shanghai Auto show in April 2011, A-class is a low-set, coupe designed completely opposite to the normal A-class cars in production. Waves is the design theme, as its wavy everywhere. Front grille, LED lights and the Benz logo in front will remind you of the SLS AMG, CLS, but don’t read too much into it, it will be just a reminder.
Powered by a new range of turbo charged 4-cylinder petrol engine accompanied by a dual-clutch transmission, high end models will be throwing up 210 bhp. A first in the segment radar based collision warning system and adaptive brake assist outlines its safety quotient. Statistically it will reduce collisions by about 25%. It will be against the big boys BMW-1 series and Audi A1. Expected to be in the market by the end of this year or early 2013, A-class will hold the advantage, since others are still concept.
