2012 Delhi Auto Expo: The 5 cars to be showcased by TataDecember 30, 2011 by: Bhavesh Kumar
One of the leading auto manufacturers in India, Tata is coming up with lots of models to take the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo by storm. The most eagerly awaited cars amongst them all is the Tata Pixel which has already got great reviews at the Geneva Auto of this year. Manza Electric is the model with Tata is putting its foot forward into the future.
Experts predict that Nano Diesel, Manza Compact and Improved version of Safari are the models that visitors could expect this year from the Tata’s stall. Production of most of these cars may start from as soon as mid 2012.
Tata Pixel is going to feature a 1.2 liter engine, front doors in Gullwing style, a mileage of 29.4 km/liter that could turn it into the darling of Indian commuters. Tata could position Pixel model between both Nano and Indica at the price point of around 3 Lakh.
The new Safari is going to be a much different vehicle in terms of looks department. Front grille is going to be designed in a sportier with Range Rover like back. The side of the vehicle is also going to look in a much different way then what we have observed the old Safari as. The engine may not witness much change with the latest model to feature the same 2.2 liter Dicor with Borg-Warner part time system too from the earlier model. Interiors are going to see more prominent changes with latest gadgets and plush materials used. The competition posed from XUV500 has already put people in the Mahindra camp and Tata has to face some really tough competition to make a mark in this category. Price wise the model could cost anywhere around 11 Lakh.
The reviews that the Indigo CS has attracted so far have prompted Tata to introduce another CS in this category by offering Manza as an alternative. The Manza CS is going to look similar to the regular Manza but the boot is going to be shortened by as much as 4 meters. Another interesting addition is going to be the Manza Electric, as part of the strategy to go green by the manufacturer. Indica and Vista models too shall be juxtaposed with electric technology. A single charge could propel the Manza for about 170 km at a top speed of 114 kmph.
Nano Diesel may be the last in our list but it isn’t so in the priority and bet that Tata places on this nutty vehicle. This model may house a 800 cc engine with 35 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The average of this car is too going to be an area where it may resound the strongest with numbers going as up as 30-40 kmpl.
